These are the things that make this being I call my self. These things that hold me together, tear apart, and make me want. I am what I am. Nothing more. Nothing less. I want to know the world. I want to travel, meet people and learn their way of life. Try foods I've never tasted, do things I didn't know existed. Learn new languages and live overseas. I want to be known by others and know them. Be admired and inspire. Do something that improves the world and completes mine. I may never be able do any of these things, but I know that I will try. Given a chance, I'm going to be somebody.

“Black people did not “come to this country seeking a better life.” They were kidnapped from their homes in Africa, dragged in chains and loaded onto slave ships—treated not like human beings but like things, commodities to be traded and used to enrich others. Tens of millions of enslaved Africans died before even reaching America, so terrible were the conditions on the slave ships. Those who survived the trip were then sold to plantation owner.” Unknown.
